oberoi hotel bali, we were invited to visit his village. after a quick discussion, we picked a date to go and meet mr. mangku. if only we'd known, what an incredible day it would be. we're going in!

our day started with an introduction to the beautiful balinese culture. we're in the middle of an incredibly important balinese ceremony. a ceremony in which they file down their canine teeth to make it level with the others. this is a symbolic gesture done to people- young boys and girls who are coming of age, going from puberty to adulthood, that means a leaving behind of our beast-like nature, and going towards a human one, instead. these 2 lovely girls with me, and they've just gone through it. so how was it? she says it hurts a little bit and that this is kind of heavy. we rode our motorbikes to the first high vantage point.

when we arrived, we were greeted by an astounding view. for such a nice place, it was surprisingly unknown and unpromoted. the young people of the wangsean village are working to fix that. this is another path leading towards the same spot but this one is for walking. we're at the highest point of batu ngongkong hill and this is our view. so we made it to another amazing spot. they call this one sunset point because you can see the sunset, here, later on. the sun has set and we're at another balinese ceremony. this one is done every 6 months to celebrate...

let's get started.
